Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane

The origins of the grape that gives its name to this Docg have long been the subject of debate between experts, now accepted as an indigenous variety, discarding Lipotes who considered a type of Sangiovese derived enjoyably warm, the vine that the base Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Today the vineyards of Montepulciano are spread throughout Labruzzi, from the slopes of Gran Sasso and the Maiella (at an altitude no higher than 500 meters, 600 for those exposed to the south) to the coastal strip. The vine has deep roots, especially in the valleys that gravitate around the town of Torre de ‘Passeri; from these vineyards are then spread into other areas of the Abruzzi wine and, in later times, even outside the borders of the region from the Marche Puglia.
